Capital Planning and Facilities (CPF) at Indiana University (IU) is dedicated to creating a physical environment that fosters success. We plan, create, maintain, and preserve IU's beautiful, functional, and sustainable campuses. Engineering Services, a unit within CPF, provides engineering solutions for IU campuses. Our team of licensed engineers and skilled systems designers offers mechanical and electrical engineering services and handles special engineering projects for all IU campuses. We also provide technical consulting and support for other divisions within Capital Projects.

Job Summary:
The Engineering Services Assistant will work under senior mechanical and electrical engineers and other engineering staff as required.
Department-Specific Responsibilities:
- Update electrical and mechanical standards
- Compile data related to electrical and mechanical engineering
- Prepare construction documents for electrical and mechanical system renovations using AutoCAD
- Perform field investigations
- Develop basic 1-line diagrams for electrical and mechanical systems
- Assist with information collection and distribution related to energy projects
Qualifications:
Education:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
- Preferred: Educational background in AutoCAD is a plus; currently pursuing a degree in architectural, electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering, or other technical fields
Skills:
- Required: Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills; demonstrated computer skills with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software, email utility, and PDF file use; self-starter with a basic understanding of architectural, electrical, and/or mechanical systems, and experience with AutoCAD; ability to learn to access the document management system to retrieve previous building plans and specifications
- Preferred: Knowledge of reading architectural, electrical, mechanical plans
