The position serves as an entry-level Project Engineer at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia. This position assists with project planning, design development, and construction management/administration for Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) Projects, Station Level Projects, and Leases at an assigned medical center and associated Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)'s. Initial starting salary $57,617 for Bachelors degree graduates; $70,477 for Masters degree graduates.  Salary progression to $98,418 - $127,949 range after 2-3 years of continuous service.

 

Typical responsibilities include:

                •              Assisting senior engineers in scoping, estimating, and drafting statements of work for facility improvement and infrastructure projects (such as HVAC upgrades, renovations, or utility repairs).

                •              Reviewing construction drawings and specifications to check for conformance with VA design guides and field conditions.

                •              Performing field verification and condition assessments to gather data, document existing infrastructure, and identify deficiencies or areas needing improvement.

                •              Participating in equipment surveys and building system inspections alongside maintenance staff and senior engineers.

                •              Supporting preventive maintenance efforts by helping document updates to utility maps, asset lists, and preventive maintenance plans.

                •              Maintaining project documentation, including meeting notes, review comments, cost estimates, and progress reports.

                •              Helping prepare materials for regulatory reviews and accreditation processes, including life safety drawings and infection control risk assessments.

                •              Learning and applying key codes and standards, such as NFPA, ASHRAE, and VA Technical Information Library design manuals.

                •              Attending project meetings to take notes, communicate updates, and coordinate with clinical, maintenance, infection control, and safety stakeholders.

                •              Developing the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff clearly and professionally.
