Placement Specialist - Access VR

Salary                                 $18.00 - $20.00/hr

Employment                      Full Time, 37.50 hours per week, Monday through Friday 

 

Summary/Objective To assist consumers with preparing and seeking successful employment in the community.  Provides effective guidance and leadership to placement staff to achieve placement outcomes, that adhere to client’s overall career goals. 

Essential Functions 

  1. Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to children, families, program staff and community resources.
  2. Takes a lead role in developing relationships with employers in the community to foster possible partnerships in placing consumers in competitive employment. 
  3. To assist consumers with learning the skills (interviewing, job searching and job preparation) necessary to find competitive employment in the community.
  4. Provide proper documentation of all recorded visits and work done on behalf of consumer via case notes.  Write reports to all funders to update them on consumer’s progress. Achieves 100% of yearly established productivity standards in conjunction with applicable program contracts, goals and objectives. 
  5. Assist consumers in developing an individual vocational rehabilitation plan that includes ongoing assessment of progress and needs. 
  6. Serves as an agency representative to professional associations and other organizations that offer job networking opportunities. 
  7. Collaborates with Employment Consultants after placement of consumers to enhance job retention.  Models effective team work and contribute to the success of program and management teams.  Works with other departments to foster effective working relationships. 
  8. Assists in the development of appropriate marketing tools to support job development, job placement and job retention activities. 
  9. Conducts 100% of intake interviews and paperwork associated with initial assessments. 
  10. Maintains contact with consumers on a regular basis to encourage participation and follow through on all job development activities. 
  11. Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
  12. Participates in conferences, workshops. Department meetings and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
  13. Adheres to agency’s policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day but employee will be expected to work at any of our partner agencies. Some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. 

 

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Business, Marketing or related field preferred with 2 years’ experience in employment and counseling. Must have valid NYS driver’s license.
