Job Goal: To provide occupational therapy services and support for the Pulaski Community School District, which include facilitating student participation in all aspects of academic engagement including: self-help, academic, pre-vocational or vocational pursuits, play, and social participation. Occupational therapists will utilize direct and indirect services, as well as assistive technology, environmental modifications, and sensory-based interventions to support the student to be successful in the school setting.
Qualifications:
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. Occupational Therapist licensure through the Wisconsin Dept of Public Safety & Professional Services.
WI Department of Public Instruction License 0051 Occupational Therapy.
Commitment to the philosophy and goals of the Pulaski Community School District.
Ability to work within a classroom situation with children having a variety of disability areas.
Provide direct or indirect therapeutic services to students relative to individual student’s needs.
Ability to work with teachers and other staff in a team setting.
Provide consultative services to classroom teachers and other staff relative to student’s needs.
Demonstrated skills in positive human relations and cultural competence
Demonstrated skills in problem solving and conflict management
Demonstrated ability to:

carry out emergency/crisis response procedures
perform all computer technology tasks associated with the position

communicate positively/effectively with students, parents, staff, patrons

Position Responsibilities:
Plans, implements and monitors activities that allow students to access and benefit from their specialized instruction. The focus of these services includes, but is not limited to: academic performance, fine and gross motor functioning, positioning, daily living skills, play/leisure skills, work skills, and sensory-motor activities.
Evaluate students through skilled observation, formal or informal testing, parent/student/staff interviews, etc. to determine present level of functioning and need for Occupational Therapy services.
Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and need for on-going services.
Determine a student’s need for environmental modifications and provide students with equipment to allow them to better participate in their environment.
Facilitate student’s independence through access to assistive technology.
Maintain daily documentation of services provided and progress, as well as bi-annual progress notes for each student.
Complete necessary Medicaid billing.
Provide in-service training for staff as needed related to fine motor, sensory needs, assistive technology programs, activities of daily living, etc.
Travel between school sites as needed.
Participate in opportunities for professional growth and development.
