We are looking for an After-school Instructor to join our team! 

If you’re creative, DIY-lover, great with kids, and interested in learning about kids STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math); keep reading. Do you find joy when spending time with kids? Then this is the perfect job for you!

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate robot building classes 
  • Keeping your tools organized and stocked
  • Troubleshooting robot issues (we will teach you how!)
  • Traveling to different locations to teach classes
  • Ensuring the classes stay on time and within their agreed upon time limit
  • Encouraging and confidence building with kids
  • Stay positive and fun under pressure!
  • Learn how to build different robot projects
  • Improv in the classroom
  • Coordinating with teachers, clients and parents on site
  • Reporting feedback to the appropriate channels

Requirements

  • Enjoy working with children
  • Love to make things with your hands (e.g. woodworking, sculpture, crafts, set construction, baking, cooking, etc)
  • Extremely reliable
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Patient and friendly
  • Flexible and like having fun
  • Believe in diversifying the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) classroom
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a CPR/First Aid certification (we will arrange a certification class)
  • Must be able to drive 10-15 miles per work day

Preferred Experience (but not required):

*Teaching/leading a classroom

*Working with children in-person (teacher, camp counselor, babysitter, etc.)

*Working with circuits

*Using power tools

*Crafting/making things 3-dimensionally

Work hours

This is a Part-Time role with hours ranging from 15-20 hours per week typically working weekday afternoons anywhere from 3-6pm and one day of the weekend with more hours available as time goes on.

Locations

Classes take place at elementary schools, afterschool organizations, and community centers across Westchester — mainly Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, Tarrytown, Yonkers, and Riverdale.
