Dermatology Medical Assistant - Northbrook, IL

The Derm Collective North Shore is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our team. 

In this role, you will be an essential part of our on-site dermatology team, helping deliver outstanding patient care in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. You will work closely with our dermatologists and providers, supporting them with clinical and administrative responsibilities that keep our busy practice running smoothly while ensuring every patient receives a first-class experience.

Must have - strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a genuine passion for dermatologic health | experience with cosmetic services—including neuromodulators, dermal fillers, lasers, and medical-grade skincare products—is highly valued. AND be able to work full-time (38-40 hours weekly), on-site, 8AM to 5PM | Tuesdays to Fridays, without any restrictions.

Qualifications:

  • Required experience: Minimum of 2-years experience in dermatology or a related field, with a strong background in a cosmetic clinical setting. Proficient in dermatology and cosmetic medicine terminology.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA) preferred.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, and proficiency in medical practice management software.
  • Personal Traits: Compassionate, with a patient-centered approach to care. Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. environment.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Clinical Support:

  • Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Support clinical flow ensuring rooms and equipment are prepared and maintained.
  • Record patient histories, and other relevant medical and cosmetic information.
  • Assist with dermatological and cosmetic procedures such as biopsies, cryotherapy, skin testing, and injectable treatments.

Patient Care:

  • Room patients and build long-term, trust based relationships by clearly communicating treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Educate patients on skin care, cosmetic treatment plans, at-home routines, and post-procedure instructions, emphasizing the importance of commitment to the full process.
  • Conduct follow-ups to ensure patient satisfaction and continued care.
  • Build solid relationships and patient retention.
  • Ensure patients are fully prepared for treatment series and long-term plans.
  • Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism, empathy, and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidence throughout their visit.

Administrative Duties:

  • Manage patient appointments, including full scheduling for multi-treatment cosmetic series, confirmations, and follow-ups.
  • Handle medical and cosmetic record documentation and ensure accurate and confidential data entry.
  • Coordinate closely with the Patient Services team to optimize provider schedules and ensure seamless cosmetic consult-to-treatment transitions.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and providers, ensuring treatment plans are understood and properly scheduled.
  • Participate in inventory management of supplies, backbar, and injectables.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinical environment.
  • Order and stock medical and cosmetic supplies and equipment, staying up to date with new products and tools.
  • Collaborate with the dermatology and aesthetics teams to enhance workflow, practice efficiency and overall patient satisfaction.
  • Take initiative in improving systems that support long-term treatment plans and patient retention.
