After School Teacher
LEGO instructors needed! We are looking for part-time teachers to lead afternoon enrichment classes around Seattle. This fun and rewarding job is a perfect fit for active college students. This position does not require Lego expertise! Most importantly, you must be able to effectively manage a group of excited kids.
Requirements:
- You have access to a vehicle with room for an 18” cart of Lego materials, and room to store those materials at home. *DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A VEHICLE - PUBLIC TRANSIT, MOTORCYCLES AND WALKING WILL NOT WORK FOR THIS JOB*
- You are 18 years or older and have completed high-school.
- You are reliable and organized. We count on our teachers to arrive on time.
- You are available in the afternoons - work shifts generally begin around 2:00-3:00 PM in different locations around the Seattle area.
- You can pass a criminal background check to work with children.
What to expect as an instructor:
- This is PART-TIME, in-person work. Shifts are 1.5 - 2.5 hours in the afternoons, usually starting around 2:30. We are looking for candidates that can work THREE to FIVE days per week. We'll collaborate to make a schedule that works for you. Many shifts are available!
- There are some opportunities for morning shifts.
- You will drive to elementary schools with fun learning materials and meet classes of up to 14 students. You alone will be responsible for your group of kids during class time.
- We provide *paid training* in our curriculum. We may bring you in to lead one or more different subjects, such as Bricks 4 Kidz engineering with motorized LEGO Technic, LEGO EV3 robotics, LEGO Spike Prime robotics, stop-motion animation, video game design, pixel art, Dungeons & Dragons, or outdoor nature classes. We encourage you to apply if you have experience or interest in any of those areas.
- Pay starts at $24 per hour plus mileage reimbursements. Opportunities may arise as you teach with us, such as periodic pay raises, full-time summer camp positions, curriculum development and materials organization.
