TITLE: DISTRICT TECHNICIAN INTRODUCTION: This position is that of a District Technician responsible for performing habitat evaluations and recommendations. Host educational events, obtain and administer grants, and field and office technical duties as requested by the Williams Soil and Water Conservation District. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. Responsible for habitat management evaluations and recommendations for private landowners. Responsible for the management and care of all SWCD owned land. This may also include the application of the grants needed to help fund management as needed. Lead and/or assist in conducting tours, field days, education programs, public viewing of demonstrations including equipment, plots, practices, etc. Assists with or prepares engineering plans for conservation projects as have been identified in the District's Annual and Long-Range Plans. The development of the plans will follow the guidelines established in the NRCS National Engineering Manual and related handbooks to meet design and plan preparation requirements. Provide technical information to land users. Assist in development of resource conservation plans for District cooperators applying conservation practices. Writes, obtains, coordinates, and follows through on grant acquisitions for habitat related landowner needs. Able to identify native, non- native, invasive, and noxious flora and fauna that are brought to you by landowners. Develops and maintains resource inventories, processes cooperator applications, completes various reports regarding the conservation program, writes news articles, maintains equipment lease records. Maintains personal contact with District cooperators and able to explain the District Conservation programs to the public. Assists with all other District programs as needed. Prepares and maintains all records, reports and forms required by SWCD, NRCS, FSA and ODA - Division of Soil and Water Conservation. 13. Performs other related duties as requested by District Administrator. 14. All duties and actions taken by the incumbent of this position while on official duty will be performed in a safe and healthy manner and will be of a nature to reflect favorably on the Williams Soil and Water Conservation District. SUPERVISION: This position is under the daily supervision of the District Administrator. PERFORMANCE REVIEW: The performance of each duty in this position will be evaluated against the requirements developed for your position. A formal performance review will be conducted annually with the employee as described in the approved Employment Policy. Your performance rating is an overall evaluation of your performance in the judgment of your supervisor. During this review, career opportunities, salary advancement and items concerning the employee’s professional growth and employment are discussed.
