Founding Director of LPN Program
River Landing at Sandy Ridge, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), is seeking a founding program director for a new Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program to be established within our community. The founding program director will be responsible for LPN program leadership, curriculum development, shepherding the program through state approvals, acquiring and maintaining North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) and the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA), and building a vibrant, innovative, and collaborative program culture.
Minimum Qualifications
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Carolina; A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program; Evidence of education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation*; At least two (2) years of full-time experience teaching in a pre-licensure nursing program and; At least two years (2) of full-time clinical experience.
*Evidence includes completion of 45 contact hours of North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON) approved continuing education courses; completion of a certificate program in nursing education, nine semester hours of graduate course work in adult learning and learning principles; national certification in nursing education; or documentation of successful completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contact hours approved by the NCBON.
Previous administrative experience in a pre-licensure nursing program; Experience with NLN CNEA accreditation and NCBON regulations for nursing programs, and at least five (5) years of clinical experience.
Preferred Training and Experience
An earned PhD, DNP, or EdD degree. Demonstrated involvement in the profession. Demonstrates thorough understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of River Landing Demonstrates knowledge of trends and best practices in nursing education; principles of adult education and student-centered learning activities; curriculum development, administration, planning, coordination, and delivery; federal, state, and/or local policies, rules, regulations, and standards as they apply to nursing education; accrediting body, regulatory agency, and/or legal requirements as they relate to nursing education; OSHA standards as they apply to health sciences educational environments; modern instructional technology; and leadership styles and group dynamics. Demonstrates proficiency with the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS), email, word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, and the Internet.
