Domestic Violence Liaison
This job description is a broad outline of the responsibilities and duties of the Domestic Violence Liaison (DVL) and will be amended, as needed, to meet the program priorities of Women Aware, Inc. and their ensuing work requirements. It should not be construed as a contract and does not create a contract of employment. Employment with the Agency is at-will.
Reports to: Clinical Director
Qualifications:
- BA in Social Work Preferred
- Minimum of 4 years DV experience
- Bilingual Spanish Preferred
- Good communication skills, ability to work independently and with people of diverse backgrounds Knowledge of community providers and resources
- Legal Advocacy experience a plus
- Must be flexible, able to travel, have a dependable car
- Full time, M-F, evenings
General Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Clinical Director, carries the responsibility of bridging services between Women Aware, Inc. and Middlesex County DCP&P. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
- To strengthen and assist DCP&P caseworkers with DV assessments to identify abuse and intervention for victims of domestic violence and their children.
- Identify and bring to the attention of the supervisor, patterns of investigative practice that may raise concerns or issues that need policy or practice adjustment.
- Provide information about trends and best practices related to domestic violence.
- Provide a safe, non-judgmental, and empowering environment to victims of domestic violence in accordance with accepted standards of care and ethics of the profession.
Specific Duties
- Partner with DCP&P case workers on site and on home visits, or elsewhere, when appropriate.
- Provide direct short-term support for clients, with a greater focus on the assessment of lethality cases, to assist them in understanding domestic violence and its impact.
- Provide case consultation to DCP&P caseworkers regarding dynamics of domestic violence, recommendations for additional services such as: emergency shelter, housing, legal information/options, counseling, and BIP.
- Identify and make provisions for DCP&P trainings/development opportunities.
- Maintain monthly statistical reports; complete and submit stats accurately and timely.
- Maintain appropriate client files and open client cases when applicable, keeping charts orderly and up to date.
