Speech Language Pathologist
About us
Established in 2021, envisioned and created by professionals in business, philanthropy and education with the belief that formal education should start at the age of 3, Trust Early Learners is a non-profit school with the goal to model high-quality early education and workforce development. TEL is a diverse community of families and educators from Greater Boston that focuses on those children who would otherwise not have access to early education. TEL utilizes a research-based, best practices, educator-led and student-centered curriculum, founded on play, called IntendED. IntendED integrates important foundations in content, critical thinking, organizational skills and social competency. TEL’s environment is intentionally designed to inspire and establish foundational learning for children ages 3 to 5 and to support Educators in their impact on children.
TEL is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to work both in class with students and in consultation with educators. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with the school-based team. This is a school-year position, projected at about 4 hours/week, and reports to the Head of School.
While we do have students on IEPs, the TEL model does not look for our therapists to provide direct services to children on IEPs. Rather therapists support all students through in class and out of class activities and provide support to educational staff at the school.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Engage all children in play-based activities to build their developing strengths and skills.
- Provide additional support to students when deemed necessary in small groups and/or individually.
- Provide consultation with the educators and other faculty team members. In consultation, the therapist and educator form a cooperative partnership and engage in a reciprocal problem-solving process.
- Suggest adaptations to the environment to maximize student development.
- Develop plans/courses of action to improve skill areas.
- Evaluate and address skills that limit the child's ability to participate and succeed at school including educational, social, and functional skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 3-years’ experience in SLP; school setting preferred.
- Experience with a variety of student assessment tools and strategies.
- Thoughtful communication skills; professionalism and sensitivity in interacting with parents, educators, and a diverse learning population.
- Strong organizational skills.
- MA license as a registered Speech Language Pathologist.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- School setting.
- May be required to respond quickly to students, which may require running.
- Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Compensation
- Competitive wage between $50-$60/hour, commensurate with experience & education.
