Mentor for High School Student — Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, Solid-State Physics, or Applied Physics | $150/hr | Max 24 hrs | Zoom

Student: Grade 10 (near Boston)
Format & Schedule: 1:1 on Zoom, mostly weekends; some evenings possible
Compensation: $150/hour, up to 24 hours total; all-inclusive (no offline prep)

Role (simple): Help a motivated student connect physics/materials (ceramics, phase changes, conductivity, basic tests) with big ideas (ontology, time, uncertainty, technology) and produce a small portfolio/exhibit with short explanations.

Possible Directions (choose/shape one):
Ceramics as fragile vs. lasting (thermodynamics + meaning of objects);
“Quantum” themes in patterns/cracks (order from randomness);
From stardust to clay (cosmic origins of elements);
Craft/tech as “道” (science of firing + philosophy of making).

You Are (keep it short):

Strong in physics/materials and comfortable with philosophy of science/aesthetics.

Postdoc, PhD, or PhD candidate (3rd year+) ONLY
