Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist - Claremont

MHRC Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS)

Claremont, CA

$40/Hr: Tuesday- Saturday or Sunday-Thursday 8am-5pm

Claremont Hacienda, a Generations new MHRC facility, is looking to hire a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist. The MHRS provides therapeutic services to clients at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC), including treatment planning, counseling, and crisis intervention. The MHRS ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in compliance with Title 9 of the California Code of Regulations and other applicable standards. The MHRS collaborates with the interdisciplinary team (IDT) to promote client recovery and successful reintegration into the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and skill-building groups to support client rehabilitation, focusing on areas such as coping skills, emotional regulation, behavioral management, self-help skills, interpersonal relationships, and transition/re-integration to the community.
  • Address co-occurring disorders by integrating mental health and substance use treatment when applicable.
  • Provide crisis intervention services, including de-escalation and support during behavioral emergencies, ensuring client and staff safety.
  • Oversees client attendance and reviews program calendar to ensure clients are receiving at least fourteen (14) hours of rehabilitation services and seven (7) hours of activity programming each week.  Meets with individual clients to problem solve non-compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, families, and external providers, facilitating continuity of care and discharge planning.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on teamwork, clinical best practices, mental health interventions, and behavioral management strategies.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of residents’ mental health, functional, and social needs.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work or related field preferred.
  • Occupational Therapist Certification 
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a mental health setting as a specialist in the fields of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment.
    • Up to two years of graduate professional education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year–for–year basis
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Experience working with adults with moderate to severe mental illness preferred.
