Earth Science Teacher- Leave Replacement

The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as a full-time Earth Science Teacher for a leave replacement position at F.D. Roosevelt High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing engaging, high-quality instruction in Earth Science, fostering a positive learning environment, and ensuring student success in meeting New York State learning standards.

Anticipated Dates: November 24, 2025 – March 6, 2026 (subject to extend)


Responsibilities
● Instruction and Curriculum:
○ Develop and deliver effective, student-centered lessons aligned with the New York State Earth Science curriculum and P-12 Science Learning Standards (NYS P-12 SLS).
○ Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, including hands-on laboratory experiences, to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
○ Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.

● Classroom Management:
○ Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and organized classroom environment
conducive to learning.
○ Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote student responsibility and respect.
● Professionalism and Collaboration:
○ Collaborate effectively with department colleagues and school administration regarding curriculum, instruction, and student matters.
○ Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
○ Communicate regularly and proactively with parents/guardians regarding student performance and classroom activities.
○ Adhere to all district policies, school regulations, and professional ethical standards.


● Coverage:
○ Fulfill all duties typical of a full-time teaching assignment, including scheduled supervision (e.g., study halls, halls, cafeteria) as assigned.

Qualifications

● New York State Certification in Earth Science (Grades 7-12) is required.
● Prior teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.
● Demonstrated knowledge of Earth Science content, including geology, meteorology,
astronomy, and oceanography.
● Familiarity with the NYS Earth Science Regents examination and its preparation.
● Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Commitment to professional growth and collaboration.
