Advanced Mathematics Teacher

Job Summary 

The Advanced Math Teacher provides high-quality instruction in upper-level mathematics courses, fostering students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. This position is responsible for designing engaging lessons aligned with state standards and preparing students for academic success in college-level mathematics, standardized assessments, and future STEM-related fields.

 

Essential Duties

  1. Develop and deliver rigorous instruction in advanced math subjects such as Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, or AP Statistics.
  2. Create lesson plans that reflect the curriculum and accommodate individual student needs.
  3. Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to support diverse learners.
  4. Assess student performance regularly and use data to inform instruction.
  5. Provide a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  6. Maintain communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic progress and behavior.
  7. Integrate technology effectively into instruction and assignments.
  8. Participate in professional development, department meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
  9. Prepare students for standardized tests, college entrance exams, and success in higher-level math.
  10. Collaborate with other educators to align curriculum and share best practices.

Other Duties

  1. Attends staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities.
  2. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid state teaching license with Mathematics endorsement.
  • Experience teaching advanced or honors-level mathematics preferred.
  • Strong content knowledge and the ability to make math accessible and engaging.
  • Proficiency in using instructional technology and virtual platforms.
  • Effective classroom management.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Passion for STEM education and student achievement

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.

Duties may be occasionally performed on field trips away from school. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
