Position Overview
Join us in the summer of 2026 and help us continue the legacy of fostering creativity, nurturing talent, and celebrating the individual artistic journey at Interlochen. We are seeking creative and adaptable Arts Explorers: Intermediates Music Instructors who embody our core values and are committed to nurturing young artists. As an Arts Explorers: Intermediates Music Instructor, you will lead students through a creative process to further develop their music skills, in collaboration with the Arts Explorers: Intermediates team of dedicated teachers. The Instructor will choose age-appropriate material to develop students' individual skills in a positive and ensemble-based rehearsal environment.
What You Get To Do
- Collaborate with fellow instructors to provide meaningful learning opportunities
- Develop and implement music curriculum, appropriate for the skill level of the campers
- Oversee growth and progress of all students within music class and how they contribute to the ensemble.
- Responsible for organizing day-to-day interactions with their respective campers in the Arts Explorers: Intermediates division
- Attend weekly departmental meetings
- Attend each class day as scheduled by Division Director

Prepared to live in a private residence hall room or nature cabin. While we offer accessible housing accommodations, please note that due to the rustic nature of our camp, these options are limited.
- MA or MFA preferred, BA or BFA required. Teaching experience considered.
- Candidates should have experience teaching choral music, songwriting, and musicianship to young students.
- Collaborative piano skills required
- Professional experience expected with demonstrable skills working collaboratively in a devising environment.
