Medical Scribe
We are looking for recently graduate pre-med/pre-PA students or students who are interested in entering the healthcare field. Gain medical experience by working closely with orthopedic sports medicine physician, Dr. David Lopez, MD in the assessment and hands-on treatment of patients with musculoskeletal joint pains and fractures. Students observe applications and removal of casts and splints on extremities, remove sutures and staples from postoperative patients, and more. You will eventually earn the opportunity to shadow Dr. Lopez while he performs surgical procedures. Students who are interested in gaining hands-on patient care hours for medical school or physician assistant school applications are encouraged to apply.
The main office is located in Little Silver, NJ. We are in Edison every other Thursday and in Lakewood once a month.
We are only considering candidates for a full-time position at this time. Graduates in their gap year or May 2026 graduates are preferred, as position may start end of May/June 2026.
Medical Scribe Responsibilities:
- Transcribe reports from medical personnel
- Proficient note taking skills
- Review reports for completeness
- Correct errors in transcription, grammar, punctuation and spelling
- Going through previous medical records to create a cohesive narrative
Medical Scribe Qualifications:
- Proficient writing skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft word
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Strong attention to detail
- Scheduling flexibility
- Must have reliable transportation
- Preferred: Previous experience in medical scribing or other related fields
- Interest in medical school or physician assistant school
- The job requires that the applicant deal with patients and patient information. It is critical that they are able to comply with HIPPA confidentiality standards when retrieving and communicating patient information.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
More about Dr. David Lopez:
Dr. David Lopez is a double board-certified orthopaedic and sports medicine surgeon and Chairman of the Orthopedics Department at Bayshore. He studied Biology at Cornell University and earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School while conducting research at MIT’s Whitehead Institute. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident, and trained in pediatric orthopaedics at Dupont Children’s Hospital. He then completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship in Phoenix, specializing in arthroscopy, joint replacement, and NFL medical exams.
Dr. Lopez has published multiple scientific articles and co-authored Field Guide to Fracture Management. He earned an MBA from UNC Chapel Hill and specializes in minimally invasive sports medicine, arthroscopy, and robotic joint replacement. He practices in Little Silver and Edison, tailoring treatment plans to patient goals. He is also an Assistant Professor at Hackensack Meridian Seton Hall School of Medicine.
