POSITION SUMMARY
The incumbent in this position works directly with internal staff and Quality personnel analyzing manufacturing processes for improvement using various methods of testing and inspection. Quickly and effectively take action when non-conformances are discovered. Maintain the most recent interpretations of the quality system requirements and ensure that documented practices meet the true interpretation of the Quality Management System standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Duties

Problem Solving
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective action using 8D, 5 whys & fishbone diagrams.
- Maintain Corrective Action Request database in accordance with internal and IATF standards.

Collaboration
- Serve as the primary quality assurance resource to department supervisor(s) for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
- Assist in training equipment operators or other staff on validation protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in internal and external training programs to maintain knowledge of validation principles.

Quality Control System
- Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for development and manufacturing products.
- Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
- Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
- Develop, execute and analyze quality reporting measures.
- Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
- Conduct Gauge R&Rs and Red Rabbit Validations along with Manufacturing Engineering Department.
- Perform internal quality system, manufacturing process, and product audits.
- Review statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and industry trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control.
- Preferred understanding and working knowledge of automotive industry requirements and tools, such as IATF 16949, and Core Tools, APQP, FMEA, MSA, etc. Equivalents standards will be considered.
- Adhere to EHS and IATF 16949 Policies and Procedures.
- Perform all other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Documentation
- Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
- Design and publish containment and certification activities.
- Review customer specific requirements, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
- Compile, write and deliver training material on quality standards and activities.
- Supplier/Customer Management
- Serve as a customer liaison for customer complaints.
- Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Manufacturing Engineering; or closely related technical field.
- 3-5 years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Familiar with process control quality tools.
- Familiar with statistical control methods in problem solving.
- Must have a background and expertise in recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance (i.e., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP).
- Must have the ability to read and write technical reports and programs.
- Must have an understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
- Must be detail-oriented and have excellent analytical skills.
- Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) highly preferred.
