Yoga Instructor

Lightkeepers International LLC is seeking a passionate, reliable Yoga Instructor to lead engaging, age‑appropriate yoga and mindfulness classes for students in PreK–6th grade in our after‑school and camp programs across NYC.

Position: Independent Contractor – Yoga Instructor
Ages Served: PreK–6th grade
Schedule: After‑school hours (approx. 2:00–6:00 pm) and seasonal camp days; days and sites vary
Locations: School and camp sites in New York City (multiple boroughs)

About the Role
The Yoga Instructor will deliver fun, safe, culturally responsive yoga and movement classes that support students’ physical, social‑emotional, and mindfulness skills in a busy after‑school and camp environment. Classes should be developmentally appropriate, trauma‑informed, and inclusive of diverse learners.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and lead structured kids’ yoga classes for PreK–6th grade in after‑school and camp settings.

Introduce students to basic poses, breathing exercises, and simple mindfulness/relaxation techniques in a playful, age‑appropriate way.

Maintain a safe, positive, and emotionally supportive classroom environment.

Manage groups of students independently, including transitions, behavior redirection, and routines.

Communicate and collaborate professionally with site directors, staff, and families as needed.

Arrive on time, prepared and ready to teach for all scheduled shifts; follow all site and program policies.

Set up and break down equipment/materials, and maintain a clean, organized teaching space.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience teaching yoga or movement to children in PreK–6th grade.

Experience working in after‑school programs, camps, or similar youth‑serving environments.

Strong classroom/group management skills with young children.

Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as an independent contractor.

Excellent communication skills and a warm, professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

Kids’ yoga certification and/or 200‑hour yoga teacher training.

Experience in schools, community centers, or nonprofit youth programs.

CPR/First Aid certification.

Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.

Contract Details

Status: 1099 Independent Contractor.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.

Work is contingent on site needs, enrollment, and performance.
