Your key responsibilities
You will spend much of your time meeting with our clients directly at their offices, undertaking audit activities to identify and resolve complex issues. When you start with the organization, you can join our audit practice and choose from a variety of industries (Consumer Products, Life Sciences, Industrial Products, Real Estate, Automotive and Transportation, to name a few). You will be given opportunities to work across these industries, which will provide deep knowledge of key drivers for success and risks specific to the industry. And if you know you have a strong desire to work within our Financial Services Organization, which is tailored to banking, insurance, funds or other financial industry companies, you may elect that path as well. Whichever you choose, you’ll find no shortage of opportunities to take on new challenges and responsibilities while discovering and developing your strengths and ambitions. 
How will I spend most of my time?
  • Identifying potential audit issues or unusual relationships in financial statements with detailed analytical trend analysis
  • Demonstrating your professionalism while working in clients’ environments and providing exceptional service
  • Operating effectively in a regulated environment, with a focus on protecting the capital markets and the investing public
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with our clients to provide definitive auditing services that the capital markets and the client can rely upon 
To qualify for the role you must have
  • Or be working toward, an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting
  • A strong academic record, including, without limitation, course work that EY deems relevant to this position
  • A demonstrable plan for passing the CPA exam
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary
  • A driver’s license valid in the U.S.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a professional working environment
  • Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills, and the confidence to identify and resolve problems
  • A genuine passion for protecting the financial markets via audit procedures auditing, and the resilience to prioritize and adapt in a demanding, fast-moving, constantly changing environment
  • A proven record of excellence in communication and negotiation, supported by the technical writing skills to translate data into compelling stories and meaningful insights
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

The opportunity

Your key responsibilities
You will spend a large portion of your time directly engaged in complex compliance projects for our clients. This will be balanced with research, planning, and meetings with senior colleagues. EY focuses on a variety of industries, including but not limited to: automotive and transportation, consumer products, health and life sciences, media and entertainment, mining and metals, oil and gas, power and utilities, and technology. Additionally, we have differentially invested in an industry structure that focuses on financial services through our Financial Services Organization (FSO). Candidates electing to join the FSO will focus exclusively in financial services and will have opportunities to serve leading investment banks, retail and commercial banks, insurers and investment managers. How will I spend most of my time?
Below are some examples of the meaningful work you will do in Tax from the moment you join us, with support and guidance from mentors and more senior team members:
  • Handling and supporting a wide variety of tax compliance processes
  • Assisting with tax due diligence on behalf of a private equity firm
  • Preparing tax returns for large, international clients
  • Working with audit teams to determine whether tax accounts are appropriate for financial statements
  • Researching tax code and writing memos for clients
  • Improving the tax effectiveness of supply chain structures
  • Developing and utilizing a diverse network of colleagues across the business 
To qualify for the role you must have
  • A predicted undergraduate degree in Accounting; graduate degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred; both supported by a strong academic record
  • A demonstrable plan for passing the CPA exam
  • Excellent English language communication skills
  • Expertise in time management, and the ability to adapt to change under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and the confidence to translate complex information into insightful, actionable recommendations
  • A highly collaborative approach to work, and the personal integrity to support not only your team’s interests, but colleagues across a global business
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as well as work in excess of standard hours when necessary
  • A driver’s license valid in the U.S.

To qualify for the Law Path you must have
  • A pre predicted undergraduate degree in accounting and JD, or a JD and LLM in Taxation
  • Membership or anticipated membership in a U.S. state bar or CPA

  • Experience as an intern in any area of tax
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Experience working alongside colleagues at all levels of a business
  • For the Law Path, experience within a tax law clinic or tax law journal preferred 
        

PAS – Staff Experiences Program – Mobility Staff

Your key responsibilities
·      Preparation of US individual tax returns for cross border assignees
·      Working closely with our global team to provide professional tax compliance and advisory services related to the mobile population of our clients
·      Researching technical issues and documenting the findings
·      Assisting in responses to tax authority inquiries
·      Building relationships with clients
·      Supporting global account and project management, including analysis of client global mobility costs
·      Developing process maps to document current and future state mobility procedures
·      Supporting equity program management and calculations
·      Understanding and advising on due diligence, transaction integration, divestitures, reward/equity programs and benefits packages – especially in relation to mobility
To qualify for the role you must have
·      Achieved or are progressing toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, supported by progress toward a CPA certification
·      Excellent communication skills
·      Proven analytical skills, and the ability to creatively overcome complex and constantly changing tax challenges
·      The confidence to successfully manage multiple projects efficiently and within tight deadlines
·      Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer software
·      Great sense of ownership of work and project assignments
·      A positive, adaptive, proactive and collaborative approach to work
·      A driver’s license valid in the U.S.
