UTRGV Athletics - Game Day and Events Internship

UTRGV Athletics is looking for outgoing and qualified candidate to take on the responsibility of working sporting events within the department. Candidates will execute components of a marketing plan, assist in game day promotions and fan engagement. Game Day and Events intern will also assist in the planning and execution of athletic events.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attendance on game days and designated key events, in addition to office hours as necessary.
  • Assist with implementation of game day promotions and in-game sponsorship elements to enhance game day atmosphere and fan experience
  • Provide customer service, manage interactive fan zone areas, organize giveaways, and set-up/break down events.
  • Assist with implementation of the annual marketing plans for assignment sports programs with a focus on increasing attendance and game atmosphere/fan experience and generating revenue
  • Assist with the fulfillment of in-game promotions, sponsorship elements, presentations and entertainment in-venue
  • Conduct research to be implemented into future marketing plans
  • Assist with distribution of marketing materials.
  • Expected commitment of 12-15 hours a week.

Learning Outcomes
  • Intern will be able to gain understanding of Game Day logistics and assist Game Day staff in planning and executing these events.
  • Intern will enhance interpersonal communication including communication among peers, team members, administrators and clients/patrons.
  • Intern will develop and apply customer service skills and concepts by engaging fans in high-traffic areas such as entrances - providing them with information such as rosters, schedule cards, Kids Club registration forms, and answering any venue-related questions. 
  • Game Day interns will learn to operate in a fast-paced environment by job-shadowing event production managers, following an in-venue script that coincides with the event agenda, as well as becoming familiar with the regulated times and breaks of the games.

Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a team
  • Graphic design/Photoshop skills a plus
  • Highly effective internal and external communicator
  • Ability to produce high quality work under tight deadlines
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in outside environment 
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends
  • Academic Credit Encouraged
