How To Get Started

Sentara has a fast-track application process designed just for our new grads (at Sentara, we consider you a new grad until you have one year of professional experience) and a RN Student Liaison to help you through the process so we can quickly connect you with the hiring managers you want to talk with most. Apply, just once, and we will take it from here.

Sentara's Nurse Residency Program (NRP): 

Sentara offers a Nurse Residency Program to all new graduate Registered Nurses (with less than 1 year of experience). Sentara wants your career to start off on the right foot! Our Nurse Residency Program parallels your employment for your first year and it is training that will provide you a means of support and transition from student to professional. 

How the program works:
-Only one application is necessary. Apply, interview, and upon hire, be automatically enrolled into our Nurse Residency Program.
-Each Sentara hospital varies in start times but your cohort should start within 90 days of your start date. 
-The program is one year in length.
-Once a month, you will step out of your department and attend classes for 4 hours.
-Over the course of the training, your cohort will study a variety of topics meant to provide you with tools and support to ensure a successful start to your career.
