Corpus Christi Police Department
Police Officer Applicant
The Corpus Christi Police Department is looking for a select few community-minded men and women willing to accept the challenge of becoming one of Corpus Christi’s finest.  The CCPD offers a paid eight-month Academy, with a highly competitive salary
cadet/police officer earns approximately $50,614 (base pay), not counting incentive pay, with an increase to $56,240 the second year followed by regular step increases thereafter.

With a sworn strength of 450, the CCPD is big enough to offer multiple opportunities for rapid career growth but small enough that you remain a name to us, not just a number. Specialized units such as the Bike Team, Dive Team, K-9 Handler, Hostage Negotiation Team, SWAT, Bomb Squad, Gang Unit, and Traffic Unit are available within your first years of service. Officers who have attained the rank of Senior Officer are eligible for selection to Criminal Investigations, Narcotics & Vice Investigations, Training, or the Organized Crime Unit. Senior Officers with two years in rank become eligible to compete for promotion to Lieutenant.

If you’re interested in serving a community that supports its police officers, Corpus Christi is the place for you. Once you wear our blue, just try to go one day without at least one grateful citizen thanking you for your service! Our citizens not only voice their support, but they also put their money where their mouths are. In the fall of 2020, our voters approved a 1.25-million-dollar bond package to design a new multi-million-dollar Police Training Academy Facility to be built on the brand new Del Mar College Southside Campus.  Our non-profit, citizen-led Police Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years, resulting in the funding of key programs like our K-9 Unit, Sky Watch portable surveillance platforms, state-of-the-art video training simulator, Honor Guard, and advanced training programs.

With a diverse population of 329,000, Corpus Christi offers many big-city amenities, while still retaining a friendly, small-town atmosphere. Located on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, Corpus Christi is a great place for those who enjoy the outdoors, with warm temperatures year-round. Within easy reach of beaches and other beautiful scenic coastal stretches, Corpus Christi has plenty to offer including a low cost of living and some of the fastest commutes in the country for a city its size.  Boating, surfing, bicycling, windsurfing, hunting, and fishing are just some of the many outdoor activities the area offers. If you are looking for big-city entertainment, Houston and San Antonio are just a few hours’ drives away.  Good neighbors and good school systems, including Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, are abundant. We’re also home to the USS Lexington aircraft carrier museum and the Texas State Aquarium, one of the world’s largest. If you enjoy baseball, take in a game at Whataburger Field and watch our minor league affiliate Corpus Christi Hooks play ball.

If you are looking for a great place to serve, live and raise a family, check us out. You won’t be disappointed.
