Underwriting Development Program - New York, New York - June 2022

Are you a whiz at analyzing business risks? Are you a natural problem solver? Do you never get tired of answering the question, “What if?”

Then you’ll be in your element when you join the collaborative underwriting team as an intern at Liberty Mutual.

The details

Our underwriters focus on two fundamental questions: Should Liberty Mutual write a policy for a particular customer? What is a fair price for the risk that we would incur by writing the policy?

Join our team as an Underwriting Intern and challenge yourself to uncover the answers.
During this 10-to-12-week internship, you’ll learn how to develop a profitable commercial book of business under the guidance of experienced underwriters.

Each team analyzes different risks on a day to day basis. The following opportunities are available.

Public Entity:
  • Whether our customers help manage towns, special districts, or public or private schools, they share a common thread: each public entity is committed to serving its community and keeping people safe
Environmental:
  • Site pollution, contractor legalities, emergency cleanups, and more; few areas of risk are as complicated as environmental liability. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to help businesses manage the risks they can see – and those they can’t.

Best of all, at the close of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a future career with Liberty Mutual, one of the leading property and casualty insurers in the country.
