Measurements Engineer III

Corning’s Glass Technologies segment manufactures chemically strengthened cover glass, such as Gorilla® Glass® for the consumer electronics market and glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.
Purpose of Position:
  • Develop next generation metrology systems to support Display glass manufacturing
Role & Responsibilities:
  • Develops, tests, debugs hardware and/or software systems, components, tools and utilities required for the operation of developmental or mass production systems.
  • Designs, develops and implements test and inspection methods and equipment.
  • Works on small and large projects of diverse scope and contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects.
  • Determines new testing requirements, compiles data and defines changes required in equipment, procedures, and manufacturing processes.
Education & Experience:
  • We require a BS in Engineering (optical science preferred)
  • We are seeking 5+ years of demonstrated ability in product development or manufacturing
Required Skills:
  • Hands on experience with build and installation of metrology systems
  • Experience with imaging & vision systems (hardware and software)
  • Experienced with motion & positioning systems including stages, controllers, drivers & motors
  • Experience with software programming (C# preferred)
  • Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated track record of on time delivery within budget; ability to drive projects to successful conclusion using influencing tools
  • Ability to engage with international teams across multiple initiatives that span various lines of business, geographic borders, time zones, and cultures
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in measurement system design
  • PLC programming
  • Experience with international travel
  • Can work independently or with diverse group;
Travel:
  • Up to 25% international travel
