Position Overview
The key purpose of this role is to provide high quality laboratory development services to support the business growth and innovation strategy; develop novel products and solutions to drive new revenue streams; and develop an in-depth knowledge of the chemistries and product application technologies required to meet our Growth and Innovation targets.
 
The role is also required to demonstrate expertise in delivering innovative solutions in the Regional marketplace, to develop & deliver strong relationships with customers and demonstrate applications expertise within our customer’s processes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure the business EH&S goals and targets are met and contribute to the EH&S culture of the business
  • Responsible for conducting laboratory development projects to deliver growth and innovation targets using defined project management principles
  • Responsible for developing an in-depth knowledge of chemistries and product application technologies which support our customers and business (both new and existing)
  • Work with the Growth and Innovation Directors and Business Development Managers to grow our G&I revenues and support the delivery of the business growth and innovation strategy
  • Work closely with key partners (i.e. suppliers, third party technology providers) to deliver growth and innovative solutions to our customers
  • Develop networks with Universities, Technology Providers, Associations, etc. to leverage external knowhow 
  • Responsible for maintaining concise technical records to assist the company knowledge base and disseminate this information appropriately
  • Participation in Global Technology Exchange groups and initiatives

Minimum Qualifications
  • An advanced tertiary qualification in Chemistry or related science;
  • Experience working in an R&D laboratory environment;
  • Experience in a similar role desirable;
  • Ability to apply and extend scientific methodology to research and development work;
  • Familiar with formalize project management processes
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to network inside and outside the organization
  • Ability to work in teams and autonomously if required;
  • Very high-level analytical problem-solving skills;
  • Extensive knowledge of legislation and regulations relevant to laboratories and chemical industry; and
  • Extensive Proficiency with Microsoft Office PC applications and an aptitude to operate area specific computer systems.

Education Requirements
  • A Master's Degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science or related field preferred
