Epidemiologist II - Health & Human Services

JOB TITLE: EPIDEMIOLOGIST II

(GRANT FUNDED)
 
JOB SUMMARY:
Intermediate level professional epidemiologist, responsible for carrying out a broad and complex range of investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the surveillance, detection and prevention of diseases and injurities. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises the work of Epidemiologist I, other professional staff or technical and administrative staff. Develops and conducts training for local staff in the conduct of investigations and appropriate methods of controlling diseases. Performs onsite review of facilities and procedures; interviews patients, health care providers, and others involved; and collects data from local agencies or other health entities. Provides scientific advice and technical assistance to communities and outside partners. Plans and conducts epidemiologic studies and urgent outbreak investigations to address important and practical public health problems and to plan programs. Performs statistical analyses on epidemiology data. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or related field. One year job related experience in Public Health, Health Care, Health Research, Social Services or related setting as a supervisor or team lead. Ability to use statistical software.  Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills, ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees. Experience collecting and analyzing statistical data, applications of principles and methods of epidemiology and biostatistics. Bi-lingual (Spanish language ability) is highly preferred.
 
SALARY RANGE: Public Health Grade 12, $2,402.40 - $2,826.40 biweekly based on qualifications
