Research Analyst Senior – Management Information & Analysis
 
Duties:
The Office of Management Information & Analysis at Lamar University seeks an innovative and creative individual to join our team as Research Analyst Sr. This position is responsible for performing technical and analytical tasks with particular emphasis on the collection, interpretation, aggregation, evaluation, and presentation of academic data for use in support of university decision-making. It requires the ability to access data from a variety of sources requiring strong computer knowledge then analyze, interpret, organize and report results clearly and effectively in narrative, tabular, and graphical formats. In addition, this position will focus on business intelligence, visualization creation and potentially predictive analysis.
 
Essential Functions
  • Provides quantitative data analysis support for external and internal institutional reporting, ad hoc studies, and other requests for information
  • Performs data extraction, compilation, and reporting necessary to support program analysis and review
  • Integrates data sets to provide analysis of complex cross-sectional or longitudinal data
  • Collects, compiles, and prepares data and analyses for presentation in graphic, tabular or written form to a diverse audience using the analytical results
  • Develops institutional data dashboards to facilitate data review and analysis
  • Produces and supports the production of standard and custom reports utilizing the available reporting tools and Banner
  • Designs and coordinates special projects and studies

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in related field required (Higher Education Administration, Statistics, Business, Social Sciences, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Demonstrable quantitative data analysis and business intelligence skills
  • Experience with SPSS or similar statistical package 
  • Experience creating insights with dashboards using visualization software (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate research methodology and results to a diverse audience
  • Ability to perform complex data research and exploratory analysis 
  • Ability to use independent judgment and manage multiple projects concurrently in an effective manner
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Keen eye for details and accuracy with compiling data and reports
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
·     Doctorate in related field 
·     Experience with Banner system 
·     Experience with Argos reporting software 
·     Experience in Institutional Research 
·     Experience with predictive analytics
·     Experience with machine learning/artificial intelligence
·     Experience with IPEDS surveys
·     SQL coding experience
·     Active participation in related professional organizations desirable (AIR, SAIR, TAIR, etc.)

Salary: Commensurate
