IT Classroom Technology Specialist #442606

The Classroom Technology Specialist position is responsible for ensuring that classrooms throughout the campus which have technology installed are kept operational. Train faculty on the use of classroom technology. Report to service tickets concerning classroom technology issues. This position is also responsible for the yearly PC refresh which consists of working with the University colleges and University property manager to identify the quantity and type of PC’s that will be ordered, receiving the PC order and coordinating the deployment of PC’s to the various colleges.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform required maintenance on classroom technology
• Complete all trouble-tickets in a timely manner
• Serve as the subject matter expert for specific systems
• Work from documented policies and procedures
• Coordinate the yearly PC refresh initiative
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical Requirements:
May be required to move and lift materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge of a variety of technology tools, sufficient to provide troubleshooting and advice.
  • Knowledge of areas of responsibility to confidently answer customer questions about use and to recommend configurations and purchases. 
  • Knowledge of positive customer service techniques. 

SKILLS: Skill in setup, installation, repair and operation of desktop computers, flat screen displays, overhead projectors and associated technologies. Skill in both verbal and written communication. Skill in time management.

Minimum Education Required:
Associates Degree in Computing or Networking required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.  

Minimum Experience Required: 
2 years’ experience working with desktop and media technology primarily in a classroom or teaching space setting
