Bond Accounting Coordinator - New Braunfels, TX

Primary Purpose:
Maintains all accounting records, budgets, and financial statements for the district’s bond funds.
 
Education / Certification:
1. Bachelor’s degree is required.
2. Master’s degree, TASBO (Texas Association of School Business Officials) certification, or CPA is preferred.
 
Special Knowledge / Skills:
1. Microsoft Excel and Word proficient.
2. Ability to communicate and work with people at various levels.
3. Ability to assist with budgets, accounting, and financial statements.
4. Ability to analyze processes and make recommendations for improvements.
5. Knowledge of State/Federal laws and regulations.
6. Knowledge of local policies and procedures.
7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental staff.
 
Experience / Other Requirements:
1. Three years of professional accounting/budget experience is required.
2. Two years of experience in school business accounting or another governmental entity is preferred.
 
 
 
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Ensures District’s accounting systems operate in accordance with the Financial Accountability System Resource Guide and
 
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
2. Assists in the design and implementation of internal controls.
3. Prepares and maintains all accounting records, budgets, and financial statements for the district’s bond funds.
4. Prepares any necessary journal entries.
5. Prepares reports and other documentation for the year-end audit.
6. Approves requisitions and budget transfers for bond expenses.
7. Attends facilities and construction meetings and future bond planning meetings.
8. Works closely with all staff to facilitate the educational process by accurately and efficiently conducting school business.
9. Provides a professional attitude and atmosphere when communicating with staff and patrons.
10. Reviews current procedures with suggestions for increased efficiency and accuracy.
11. Continually updates knowledge and skills to provide more productivity as the workload increases.
12. Continues updating skills through finance and accounting classes.
13. Monitors professional, legal, and regulatory information and disseminates to administration and staff.
14. Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and serves as a role model for all District staff.
15. Maintains current knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and governmental accounting.
16. Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

2. Maintains emotional control under stress.
3. Ability to lift moderate boxes up to 40 pounds.
4. Repetitive hand motions.
5. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
6. Occasional District-wide and occasional State-wide travel.
