Engineer - Research Analyst - Research Engineer - Electromagnetic Design & Development

Who We Are:

The Applied Power Division designs, develops, tests, integrates, and deploys novel technology solutions to solve national security problems.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Provide expertise in electromagnetic design and development across a wide variety of research and development efforts.
  • Provide multiphysics modelling and simulation capability.
  • Provide career-long learning and research to contribute to a wide diversity of project activities for external clients and internal project managers.
  • Maintain awareness and proficiency with electromagnetic systems and technology advancements, modeling and simulation tools, and electromechanical techniques.
  • Identify new areas of research and influence technical program direction.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Provide High-frequency and low-frequency electromagnetic simulation and analysis using Ansys and other tools.
  • Interact directly with project team staff, project management, and clients to fully understand program requirements and task objectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop new innovative solutions and contribute to technical proposals.
  • Identify new areas of research and influence technical program direction.
  • Prepare and present literature reviews, design reviews, and technical reports.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Masters or a PhD with a 3.00 GPA in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Astrophysics or directly related with related experience
  • A Masters (with thesis) or a PhD Degree with a focus on computational electromagnetics, or related technical fields is preferred
  • 0-5 years: Electromagnetic modeling experience
  • 0-5 years: Solid understanding of electromagnetic theory
  • 0-5 years: Experience in electromagnetic system design (e.g. electric motors, machines, generators, transformers, solenoids, etc.)
  • Interest or a background with modeling of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and susceptibility (EMI)
  • Experience with or ability to work with tools such as Ansys Eleectronics, Comsol Multiphysics (AC/DC or RF modules), or Hyperlynx
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, and the ability to work on teams
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required

Special Requirements:

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
