Responsibilities


  • Lead small team of developers in the design and development of software solutions.
  • Design and implement software solutions to fulfill the requirements of the sponsoring agency.
  • Establish and oversee automated unit, integration, and regression testing as appropriate.
  • Mentor Engineering Scientist Associates and junior team members in best software development practices.
  • Create/maintain application documentation and provide oral presentation or presentation material.
  • Other related functions as assigned.



Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other applied sciences.
  • Three or more years of professional experience as a Software Engineer/Developer.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in software development and scripting
  • Experience using system monitoring tools and automated testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of version control packages
  • Knowledge of methods of automated testing
  • Knowledge of selected programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, VB, C/C++, C#)
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • Familiarity with various operating systems (Linux, Windows)
  • Professional experience in software design, software documentation, software testing, general programming skills, software development fundamentals, software development process, software requirements, software architecture, coaching.

Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving skills and excellent judgment. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.



Preferred Qualifications


  • Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other applied sciences.
  • Two or more years of professional Visual Basic .NET experience
  • Two or more years of professional C# experience
  • Two or more years of professional EF experience
  • WPF and MVVM experience
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS technologies
  • Experience with Oracle-based application development
  • Experience in managing small teams of software developers.
  • Dynamic skill set, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time.
  • In-depth knowledge of Git, and methods for automating testing
  • Two or more years of technical communication (develop/author/edit) experience
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
