The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staffing that are crucial to the nation’s COVID-19 response including support for implementation of COVID-19 vaccine. We are seeking candidates for the Engineer role. This position will coordinate a variety of engineering activities and personnel to identify, evaluate, manage, and rehabilitate various facilities and systems. Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the implementation of various drawings, plans, projects, and contracts.
- Reviews and updates plan, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Interfaces with departments, consultants, technical professionals, and general public to address inquiries,
- Develops reports and other administrative documents.
- Provides technical support and expertise on various projects, plans and programs.
- Conducts on-site field observations and inspections.
- Interpret codes to ensure consistent applications.
- Participate in hearings, meetings, and conferences.
- Reviews and monitors work activities performed by external consultants.

Education
- This position requires graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers with satisfactory standing; or requires graduation from an engineering or related science curriculum at a recognized institution of higher education, other than a curriculum approved by the Board, and passage of the eight-hour fundamentals of engineering examination prescribed by the Board.
- Certification/License: Requires registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. A specific branch of engineering (such as civil, mechanical, structural, etc.) may be required.
- A Master’s degree in Engineering may be substitute for up to two years of the experience requirement.
Qualifications
- Four years of active practice in engineering work after graduation from approved curriculum in engineering are required.
- Demonstrated experience managing small to large sized, multi-disciplined, municipal water, wastewater or stormwater projects with responsibilities similar to those described above.
- Work is substantially complex and varied, and requires the interpretation of technical and detailed guidelines, policies, and procedures in combination.
- Analytic ability is needed to gather and interpret data where answers can be found only after careful analysis of several facts.
- This position requires the regular operation of a motor vehicle during the course and scope of employment as an essential function of the job. As such, Employees in this position must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence, must self-report motor vehicle violations/convictions, and must provide proof of acceptable insurance coverage with minimum coverages as set forth within the Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy (“Policy”). All offers of employment and continued employment for this position are contingent upon all minimum qualifications of this Policy.
