Deputy Director Fiscal Support Services

The Director, Fiscal Support Services is responsible for the design, coordination and execution of fiscal support for child care providers. This senior-level resource will have deep content knowledge on fiscal requirements and best practices for child care providers, and be able to provide direct strategic and organizational design guidance to clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leads fiscal support program for the SPARK Indiana program
- Accountable for the development and oversight of program-wide KPIs related to fiscal support of Indiana providers through the SPARK program
- Serves as a senior business coach; Provides direct support on fiscal question related to organizational design, best practices, policies and procedures for child care providers.
- Content / curriculum lead and key facilitator on in-person and virtual learning opportunities for providers on fiscal topics
- Directly supervises the Specialist, Fiscal Support Services; supports development of and final approves tools and training materials related to fiscal topics
- Hosts regular office hours to support ad-hoc questions from providers on fiscal management and approach.
- Coordinates closely with partnership manager to ensure appropriate design and use of a referral network of CPAs, tax specialists, financial compliance specialists and for-profit / nonprofit outsourced accounting firms to support providers in filling capacity and content knowledge gaps

Supervision
• Supervises assigned department personnel, including the Fiscal Support Services Specialist. Includes the following responsibilities, but are not limited to: hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the completion of all work performed by direct reports.
• Educates direct reports on all department and agency policies and procedures
• Meets with assigned staff at least biweekly to identify and resolve problems, manage projects, track goals, and review work processes and procedures
• Represents the team and/or department at meetings, events, and training as required

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree required; major in in accounting, business, fiscal management, or a related field preferred. MBA / CPA preferred but not required
• Experience as a fiscal leader for a childcare program or organization with significant multisite childcare operations
• Head Start experience preferred
• Capacity-building / direct training and/or coaching experience for other fiscal and organizational leaders
• Familiarity with best practices in accounting, budgeting and forecasting
• Ideally, experience in design and budgeting efforts around compensation and benefits changes
• Familiarity with fiscal process and compliance components of childcare subsidy, Head Start, pre-K and other sources of public funding for early care and education in Indiana
• Physical exam and background checks are required for this position
• Travel required locally or regionally within the state up to 25% of the time for work-related meetings and functions. Limited out of state training or meeting travel may be required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
