 Middle School Academic Dean 
 
The position for an Middle School Academic Dean will be available at East Central ISD for the 2021-2022 school year. Primary Purpose: Primarily responsible, under the direction of principal, for accelerating, enhancing and supplementing the campus’s foundational program to ensure curriculum, instruction, and staff development are aligned to improving student achievement and the campus successfully meets goals and performance objectives. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Provide assistance to administrators and teachers in developing and maintaining exemplary instruction.
  2. Screen and recommend programs and methodologies for use.
  3. Provide assistance in developing, updating, and managing the distribution of curriculum and related resources.
  4. Recommend expenditures relating to special materials, consultant services, and instructional materials.  
  5. Provide liaison between school and central office instructional staff. 
  6. Assist with the development and implementation of campus goals.
  7. Plan and present campus staff development including job-embedded professional learning through observation, feedback, and coaching. 
  8. Assist the campus with communicating and adhering to Title I schoolwide requirements.
  9. Facilitate in the receipt, distribution, and management of supplemental resources.    
  10. Assist with student tutoring.
  11. Effectively and efficiently disperse and communicate curriculum information to staff.
  12. Assist department/grade level leads with weekly planning and collaboration. 
  13. Participate in leadership meetings.
  14. Foster collegiality and team-building among staff.
  15. Work with administrators to effectively resolve conflicts.
  16. Facilitate and coordinate transition opportunities for students, families, and/or staff.
  17. Assist with coordination of the campus new teacher induction training including the mentor/mentee training throughout the school year.
  18. Support the campus’s MTSS process.
  19. Collect and review course syllabi or lesson plans, as needed.
  20. Coordinate district assessment testing on campus.
  21. Supervise academic extracurricular activities.
  22. Coordinate campus extended day/summer school programs.
  23. Work with administration in the development of Campus Improvement Plan and master schedule.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned that align to accelerating, enhancing and supplementing the campus’s foundational program and improving the campus’s school-wide program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree preferred 
  • Appropriate Texas Teacher Certificate; Texas Principal or Mid Management Certificate preferred
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
  • Five of years of teaching experience 
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment  
           
WORKING CONDITION: Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent interruptions. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing and lifting. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. May be required to lift and position student’s w/physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist nonambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards. Work predominantly inside and exposure to noise; may work outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather, too.  
  
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 days         
SALARY:  Administrative Pay Scale 105, Title I
