Assistant Curator of Bird Mammal

The Texas State Aquarium provides high quality, entertaining programming through education, conservation, and wildlife rehabilitation. Under supervision of the Curator of Birds and Mammals, the Assistant will assist in planning the daily operations of the Bird and Mammal Department.
Other duties will include but are not limited to:
·       Actively participate in the training of Bird and Mammal staff.
·       Participate in the development of Standard Operating Procedures and update the Animal Care Manual annually.
·       Develop the monthly staff work schedules.
·       Maintain responsibility for daily operations in the absence of Curator.
·       Procure supplies and approve purchases up to $500.
·       Serve on Aquarium committees as assigned.

A Bachelor’s degree in biology, psychology, or a related field from a four-year college or university is required. A minimum of five years of professional experience working with birds and mammals is also required. Any equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
