Grant Writing Intern

GRANT WRITING INTERNSHIP 
Founded in 1974, cdcb | come dream. come build. provides safe, sanitary affordable housing to the citizens of South Texas, and is one of the largest non‐profit producers of single‐family housing for homeownership in Texas. cdcb is a multifaceted affordable housing organization devoted to utilizing collaborative partnerships to create sustainable communities across South Texas through quality education, model financing, efficient home design, and superior construction. 
Position:           GRANT WRITING INTERNSHIP 
15-20 Hours Weekly, January 6, 2022 – May 15, 2022 

You will be part of an innovative nonprofit organization that offers home ownership services, financial stability counseling, rental housing, new single-family housing and education and training programs for young people. cdcb is one of the largest developers of affordable housing in the state of Texas. 
As an intern, you will research funding opportunities, help in editing proposals, track submission of proposals, support outreach work to funders, support the organization’s social media flow, and other reporting duties. 

The grant writing internship is a great opportunity to sharpen your writing skills, learn how to put proposals and reports together, and gain research experience. It is also a chance to learn about the nonprofit sector and to contribute to the success of the organization. You will receive guidance from an experienced grant writer. 

TASKS & REQUIREMENTS 

What you will do. As a grant writing intern, you will be involved in the full process of fundraising for cdcb. This will include the following tasks;:
·       Researching grants and other fundraising opportunities 
·       Collecting data and information for grant applications and other funding proposals 
·       Providing editing support for grant applications and other funding proposals 
·       Support reaching out to prospective funders for nonprofit clients 
·       Researching and developing appropriate social media content 

Please note, some weeks might fully focus on research and outreach while others are filled with working on the proposals and applications. 
Requirements 
·       Exceptional writing skills and fluency in English 
·       Experience with social media 
·       Experience developing videos and promotional materials 
·       An ability to work independently 
·       Attention to detail 
·       Strong research skills 
·       A self-starter attitude 
·       Experience in creative writing is a bonus 
·       An interest in the nonprofit sector 
This is a position for someone with a background in marketing, political science, English or similar fields of study. 
A successful candidate will possess the following skills and/or attributes: 
  • Currently pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in relevant field. 
  • Ability to make a minimum 13-week commitment. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Capable of working remotely with a high degree of productivity. 
  • Excellent attention to detail; strong research skills. 
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish (preferred, but not required). 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
