Your Opportunity

  • The Community Development business center in Stantec’s Tallahassee office has an opportunity for an entry-level Civil Engineer / EIT. You will have the opportunity to be assigned many different types and sizes of projects where you will perform a wide variety of key project functions. These functions could include:
  • Civil design computations and/or modeling using Microsoft Excel, PCASE, ICPR, and other design tools under the direction of experienced team members.
  • Plan production using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Civil specification preparation using SpecsIntact and/or Microsoft Word.
  • Engineering Report preparation.

The Tallahassee office is one of Stantec’s key centers of expertise for federal projects, especially those serving the US Department of Defense. Other key clients include the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, electrical power distribution systems, architecture firms, and others. You’ll experience a range of exciting projects including site development, municipal utilities, parks, and trails.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Understand project budgets, quality control, and adherence to project schedules. Coordinate with the technical lead regularly to verify status is on track.
  • Work with the project team to develop construction drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates for multi-disciplined vertical construction projects.
  • Serve as a member of the technical design team on civil/site projects requiring geometric site layout, profiles, stormwater management, drainage, grading, water and sanitary sewer utilities, and erosion and sedimentation control.
  • Collaborate with senior staff in the execution of projects and the development of business opportunities.
  • Work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to successfully achieve group goals.
  • Meet quality control/quality assurance requirements of Stantec’s project management framework.
  • Perform calculations to analyze and design individual components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
  • Perform field work as required.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to maintain relationships of trust, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting, engaging in creative and critical thought.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or similar accredited engineering degree.
  • 0 to 2 years of engineering experience.
  • EI / EIT preferred or plans to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in the near future.
