Process Control Engineer

Join our winning team as a Process Control Engineer in Oyster Creek, Texas. Additional locations may include Freeport, Texas. In your role as a Process Control Engineer, you will be fully immersed in helping the plant to achieve its business objectives through application of support and solutions in Process Automation and related expertise areas while also maintaining strong functional alignment to the global business PA network. The primary focus includes asset utilization and reliability improvements, compliance initiatives, process troubleshooting and turnaround support, capital and maintenance projects, process optimization, and more. 


Process Control Engineer Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize plant operations to drive process and product improvements while maintaining a strong safety and environmental compliance focus and minimizing plant downtime caused by process automation system failures
  • Detect causes of deviations in quality, capacity, yield, and energy consumption; provide technical training to less experienced engineers or operators
  • Provide care and troubleshooting of process automation systems and their associated networks and interfaces
  • Identify and manage Preventative Maintenance tasks and health checks for the systems supported 
  • Complete project work including system installation, configuration, design, and development
  • Closely interact with the Global Process Automation Technology Leader to ensure that all process control activities (hard- and software) within the production area are in accordance with global and business MET standards; if necessary, initiate/lead appropriate training for plant operations staff
  • Develop and follow through for Service Requests to resolve issues; work directly with process control vendors as needed for escalation support
  • Report all significant system incidents, failures, and outages; participate in and lead Root Cause Investigations and implement corrective actions

Process Control Engineer Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree* in Engineering; Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science discipline preferred
  • 2+ years process controls experience preferred, including hands-on field programming and instrumentation experience in an industrial environment
  • Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
  • Prior experience programming in DeltaV preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with diverse work groups, including operations, engineering, and other functions to meet the team's and plant's objectives of increasing asset utilization and implementing MET
  • Ability to coordinate and implement several process control development projects simultaneously
  • Must possess a valid US Driver's License
