Adult Mental Health Registered Nurse IV

General Description

Responsible for delivery of intensive medication services, education, and rehabilitative training for consumers on the Forensic Assertive Community Treatment caseload; coordination of consumer's medical-related needs in order to maintain stability in the community and achieve independence; crisis prevention and intervention.  Works as a team member along with others on the Forensic Assertive Community Treatment team.  Under general supervision of the Forensic ACT team supervisor, identifies client's rehabilitation and medication related needs outlined in the client evaluations, which assist the clients in attaining their optimum levels of independence.  Provides medication-related services in the community. The job requires availability after hours, an automobile and extensive community travel for service provision, with a flexible schedule and hours.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Experience in nursing work.  Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in nursing or from an accredited nursing program. 

One (1) year of work experience as an RN in a recognized health agency, hospital, or health care facility. 

Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.

Registration, Certification, or Licensure:

Must be registered as a registered nurse by the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
  • Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to train others; to provide patient care; and to prepare and maintain records.
  • Administers medication and observes patients for unusual symptoms and favorable or unfavorable reactions.
  • Conducts assessments of client health needs and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Provide specialized nursing services for individuals, families, groups, and/or communities.
  • Assists in evaluating services provided and make recommendations for improvements as appropriate.
  • May prepare lesson plans and devise teaching methods, teaching aids, and tests for educational programs.
  • May train others.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Computer literate 
  • Ability to participate as a team member 
  • Experience in the use of teaching medication education
  • Knowledge of client care techniques, and of treatment, therapy and of developmental programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively
