Entry Level Customer Service Specialist

Join our winning team as an Entry Level Customer Support Specialist in McIntosh, AL. Customer Support Specialists utilize timely and effective communications with customers, multiple businesses and functional partners to deliver exceptional service to customers, colleagues and profitability to Olin. By building successful relationships. they pull together and align multiple internal resources and capabilities, toward the goal of zero-defect customer satisfaction. They manage the entry of orders from initial contact with the customer or electronic channel, through material flow to product arrival and delivery, all with a high level of accuracy and meeting specific customer needs. In the event of a service failure, the Customer Support Representative determines the best resolution and manages the corrective actions to meet the customer's expectations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Handles routine and non-routine customer order activities, including managing customer demand, following up on samples, complex order entry (i.e., consignment) guiding and leading activities of the order process utilizing work process, business strategy, and best practice to ensure high quality service.
  • Manages customer inventory, using telemetry or other automated systems, with a high degree of accountability.
  • Acts an integral and active participant in Customer Account Teams contributing to the body of knowledge about our customers through data entry of contacts, customers insights, product demand forecasts, competitive product-price-share and more as additional Salesforce functionality is implemented.
  • Determines the service and quality requirements of assigned accounts and coordinates all Olin activities to meet and exceed customer expectations. Realizes and anticipates how events and trends are likely to affect the customer’s future needs and determine appropriate actions, if needed. 
  • Uses the SAP / S4 system to accurately and timely place customer orders. Works with a complex combination of order scenarios, such as multiple sourcing locations, various modes of transport, and many different products. Must analyze the Business Service Standards to meet the customer needs while supporting business functional performance. This requires the ability to multi-task with critical thinking skills.
  • Initiates the entry of a service failure and facilitates the corrective action for resolution of the failure.
  • Demonstrates urgency, acts promptly, and quickly removes roadblocks while assessing opportunities. Collaborates with internal customers such as Logistics, Sales, Marketing, Quality, Technical Services and Finance to assure responsiveness.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree* in Business, Logistics/Transportation, Marketing, or related discipline strongly preferred. Degree must be completed between May 2023 to May 2024.
  • Must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (documentation required).
  • Prior related internship or relevant work experience preferred; up to 2 years post-graduate.
  • Familiarity with S4/SAP, Rail Fleet System, Elemica, Telemetry or other order visibility tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and sound judgement.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing and able to be on-call on a rotating basis.
