Radiation Therapist

Scope of Responsibility

  • Administer treatments to patients under direction and supervision of a radiation oncologist and manager; 
  • Accurately position beam of radiation to correspond with designated tumor volume;
  • Accurately deliver prescribed dose; 
  • Under minimal supervision, image tumor volume and outline corresponding target on patient’s surface; 
  • Accurately record data with respect to field parameters, patient dimensions, and contour acquisition, which are essential for proper dosimetric calculations and high quality radiation therapy

Functions:

  • Administer treatments accurately and efficiently 
  • Perform mandatory quality and control activities 
  • Maintain records of daily treatments; review patient charts and follow necessary policies and procedures  
  • Participate in the clinical orientation/instruction of students and new hires 
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment adhering to radiation safety and control policies 
  • Rotational call


Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited program in radiation therapy technology or suitable equivalent
ARRT certification or eligible to obtain upon employment
Current registry as RT(T) 
Licensed by the Louisiana Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners
CPR certification
2 years of experience as a radiation therapist a plus
Experience with various Elekta treatment machines preferred
