JOB SUMMARY: Provides professional care and service within assigned area in accordance with established standards, institutional policy and procedures, professional judgement, and, as appropriate for assignment, nursing care plan, and physician’s treatment plan. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages and culture of the patients/clients served. Supervises non-professional nursing or allied health staff. Performs other related duties as deemed competent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing is required.
Experience:  Preferably, a minimum of one year, Med-Surg or related. 
License/Registration: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.  
Certification: Current CPR through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. ACLS is required for Telemetry; CCU; ED; Medical Detox; Float; Med Surg and Family Center within 6 months of hire. PALs required for CCU and ED within 6 months of hire. Family Center: NRP required and successful completion of AWHONN Intermediate FHR Monitoring course expected within 6 months of hire; Tele; ICVR; CCU; ED; PACU - training in EKG recognition or completion of EKG class; Medical Detox; Behavioral Health; Emergency Department; CCU and Float Pool required initially and annually CPI training; Oncology: prefer RNOCN   Thorough knowledge of nursing standards, basic computer knowledge, principles and procedures; ability to work well with others.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Range of motion within functional limits. Requires frequently: pushing 40 lbs; pulling 80 lbs; standing; walking; repetitive trunk rotation-standing; manual dexterity; both handedness (both hands must be used) functional vision and hearing; Occasionally: lifting 35 lbs from floor to waist and waist to eye level; one handed carrying 15lbs; work kneeling; work squatting/crouching; visual color discrimination; and visual depth perception. In the environment occasionally exposed to wetness; slippery surfaces; and accident exposure
