We are currently seeking a Structural EIT to join the Integrated Design team. The successful candidate would have opportunities to work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector ranging from studies to detail engineering projects in North America and across the world. This role would provide an opportunity to be a part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth in design of hydraulic steel structures.

Your Key Responsibilities

You are expected to understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its clients.

Structural design and analysis to applicable codes. Typical structures include hydraulic steel structures, heavy industrial/energy infrastructure, and industrial buildings.

Work with Professional Engineers and Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs and requests.

Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan.

Travel to project sites to complete site inspections, working closely with a Sr Structural Engineer.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

As the ideal candidate, you have:

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and team centered focus.

Enthusiastic, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently.

Experience in Heavy Industrial or the construction industry is an asset.

Focus on steel design and familiarity with AISC design guidelines. Experience with the design of welded structures is an asset.

Knowledge of SAP, STAAD Pro, and/or RISA-3D is an asset.

Knowledge of solids modeling (Inventor, Solidworks, etc.).

Knowledge of FEA (ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.).

Willingness to travel to client sites and other Stantec offices is an asset.

Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural.

A master's degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural is strongly preferred.

0 to 4 years of engineering experience in heavy industry.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
