Primary Purpose:
This position serves as the instructional link between the campus and the Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) department. The Learning Liaison is a key facilitator of curriculum initiatives/expectations and building capacity for effective instruction on the campus. One of the critical roles of this position is to collaborate with campus PLCs and facilitate the professional growth of all campus staff. This position reports to both the campus principal and Executive Director of Learning. Additionally, learning liaisons work closely with campus administrators, teachers, and members of the Curriculum and Instruction team.
Qualifications:
Education/Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Masters Degree or in the process of obtaining a Masters Degree
- Minimum of three years instructional experience
- Understanding of TEKS, ELPS, and CCRS
- Understanding of models of professional learning
- Experience working in effective Professional Learning Communities
- Experience successfully leading professional learning
- Strong background in coaching competencies - listening, paraphrasing, asking questions, building relationships
- Ability to synthesize needs and act on solutions
- Expertise in effective weekly/daily lesson design
- Proficiency in technology
- Understanding of educational research and its implications for best practice
- Competence in supporting English learners
- Ability to lead teachers as they support struggling learners or learners with special needs
- Demonstration of cultural competence
- Ability to consider and integrate the needs of a system and the needs of a campus
- Evidence of campus/district leadership
- Ability to speak and write effectively for a variety of audiences
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Communicate between campus administration and C&I department
- Coordinate central level support for the campus
- Collaborate with members of C&I to prioritize the deployment of district coaches
- Provide leadership for campus PLCs
- Collaborate with campus administration in the development of the Campus Improvement Plan
- Regularly observe teacher practice and provide feedback in a non-evaluative manner
- Develop procedures and structures to include student voice in the instructional process
- Collaborate with campus counselors to support the social and emotional climate on campus
- Take part in the RtI process and lend expertise to Tier placement decisions
- Contribute to curriculum development on an as-needed basis
- Contribute to assessment development on an as-needed basis
- Contribute to teacher professional development on an as-needed basis
- Actively seek learning opportunities for personal growth and for the growth of the campus
