Teacher, Gifted and Talented Specialist Elementary Pool
Job Title: GT Specialist Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports to: Campus Principal & GT Coordinator Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Table 187 days

Primary Purpose: To facilitate student success in academics, creative thinking, problem-solving, leadership and interpersonal skills. Specialists will implement district-approved curriculum, document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; address specific educational needs of GT students; provide a safe, risk free learning environment and provide feedback to students, parents and administrators regarding student progress, program expectations, goals, and identification procedures.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree Preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate EC-6
- Gifted Education Endorsement or GT/TExES exam Preferred
- Completion of state required 30 hours of training in GT
- Knowledge of Gifted Education teaching strategies, curriculum and student characteristics
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Teach district curriculum to identified students.
- Monitor and record student progress.
- Provide on going GT identification and assessment to include testing, portfolios, surveys, classroom teacher feedback, parent input.
- Plan collaboratively with district GT specialists and classroom teachers.
- Provide demonstration lessons and extensions in the content areas.
- Communicate with parents regarding district program expectations and goals, curriculum, student progress, identification and social/emotional needs of gifted and high ability students.
