Modeling and Simulation Analyst

Modeling and Simulation Analyst

Stellar Science is a growing Albuquerque-based scientific software development company seeking talented scientists who are interested in helping create, extend, and apply exciting scientific and engineering analysis applications. We are seeking self-motivated candidates to help configure, run, and develop optics models and simulations on high-performance computing (HPC) systems. The successful candidate will create analysis scripts and work closely with developers to debug C++ applications. You will support all aspects of the application software life cycle, from marketing & business development to design, testing, and documentation. You may work with customers, management, and development teams to apply, demonstrate, and improve our applications.

Positions are in or near: Albuquerque, NM, Dayton, OH, or Tysons Corner, VA (DC area).

Minimum Requirements:
 

  • B.S. in physics, math, engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities
  • Exceptional software skills, including the ability to read modern C++ code, understand how equations are implemented, and troubleshoot or suggest software improvements
  • Experience creating analysis and automation scripts, e.g. with Python, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib
  • Experience working with HPC including job schedulers (PBS, SLURM, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with software testing
  • Scientific analysis experience in one or more of the following domains:
    • Directed energy
    • Optics, including lasers, imaging, and atmospheric effects
    • High performance computing (HPC)
    • Modeling & simulation
    • Image simulation and analysis
    • Space domain awareness (SDA)
    • Antenna modeling and computational electromagnetics (CEM)
    • High power microwave (HPM)
    • 3D CAD modeling, mesh generation, or image-based meshing
    • Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) script
  • U.S. citizen willing to undergo background investigation and perform some work at customer sites

Desired:

M.S. or Ph.D. in a scientific or engineering field with substantial scientific analysis experience in several of the listed domains
