Great Hearts Academies (GREAT HEARTS AMERICA)

History at Great Hearts - 6th - 8th Grade

History is taught by the homeroom teacher at the K-5 level and taught at a part of the Humane Letters courses at the high school level. At the middle school level, the courses offered are as follows:

  • Introduction to the American Tradition - 6th grade
  • Ancient History or Texas History - 7th grade
  • Medieval History - 8th grade

Literature & Composition Teacher – 6-8th Grade

Literature is taught by the homeroom teacher at the K-5 level and as a part of the Humane Letters course at the high school level.

In Middle School Literature and Composition courses, students are immersed in studying literary figures, grammatical structure, and basic logic in constructing a written argument (as well as proper grammatical construction in writing); at the same time, students are practicing how to read a piece of literature carefully and discuss its ideas with each other in class.

9-12th grade Humane Letters

The Humane Letters courses are central to the academies' classical liberal arts curricula. They are two-hour seminar style courses focusing on great works of literature, history, and philosophy. Our academies offer the following courses as a part of their curricula:

  • Humane Letters I (focused on American studies with a strong history component - 9th grade)
  • Humane Letters II (focused on European studies - with a strong history component - 10th grade)
  • Humane Letters III (focused on Ancient Greek/Roman studies with a strong philosophy component - 11th grade)
  • Humane Letters IV (a capstone course surveying the Western tradition with a strong philosophy component - 12th grade)

 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing educational services to students, responsible for planning, developing, delivering, and implementing various educational programs, activities, lesson planning, assessments for a classical education curriculum in classroom settings in consultation with other school personnel and faculty. This is a wonderful opportunity for those interested in education or for those who love working with children.

Salary Range: $36,500 - $55,000 - Salaries vary based on region, experience, and education
