CTE Communications Specialist

Job Title: Career and Technical Education (CTE) Communications Specialist

Company: Resources for Learning, LLC

Location: 95% remote with some travel required

Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as a CTE Communications Specialist. As a CTE Communications Specialist, you will work alongside our Director of Creative Services, project managers, and the CTE team developing, designing, and producing educational materials for our company and clients. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the academic and career development of students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work independently and as part of a team creating designs for print, web, video, online learning, face-to-face presentations, and electronic media
  2. Develop visual and written communication pieces from concept to completion, including client communications, assessment of client and audience needs, graphic design and layout, vendor solicitation, production oversight, and quality assurance
  3. Create original graphics, illustrations, interface elements, and layout designs based upon media requirements, audience needs, client purpose, content/message, and principles of visual communication design
  4. Create original motion graphics and animations for presentations, online learning, websites, video, and electronic media
  5. Design navigational structures, page elements, and layouts for websites and online learning platforms
  6. Write copy, proofread and provide edits to marketing and instructional materials, reports, and proposals
  7. Create storyboards, mockups, and templates and assist with user experience research
  8. Identify and source suitable images for educational and promotional materials from a variety of sources including stock image databases
  9. Assist with the development and implementation of taxonomy and tagging systems for image library metadata
  10. Provide formatting, layout, and graphic design for written reports and proposals
  11. Create informational graphics, charts, and icons and assist RFL data specialists with visuals for conveying complex information
  12. Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in CTE, communication, and graphic design, incorporating them into recommendations for client projects and materials­­­­­
  13. Collaborate with clients and colleagues to share best practices, resources, and maintain quality
  14. Contribute to the growth and success of the consulting firm by participating in business development activities, such as client presentations and proposal writing.
  15. Ensure that all deliverables comply with client’s expectations and requirements, including style guides, color palettes, and other specifications
  16. Maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  17. Participate in non-CTE projects as needed and other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Strong candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with major in visual art, graphic design, electronic media design, communications, journalism, advertising, or education and/or three to five years of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, preferred candidates will have experience working as a graphic arts or audio visual design instructor in a K-12 educational setting, preferably with strong working knowledge of CTE programs, policies, and procedures. Applicants for this position must possess the following qualifications:

  • Possess strong organizational, creative, and conceptual thinking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Be able to prioritize tasks and employ responsive communication strategies
  • Knowledge of the Design Thinking process to structure product development and manage client and stakeholder feedback
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work in a variety of media, on multiple projects, and meet multiple deadlines
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite — specifically Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Acrobat Pro
  • Proficiency in designing with and for Microsoft products, especially Word and PowerPoint
  • Possess a working knowledge of accessibility standards and designing and updating documents to comply with accessibility requirements
  • Demonstrate strong written communication skills and an ability to write and edit copy for a variety of purposes and audiences
  • Ability to design and develop marketing materials, presentations, and reports to effectively communicate program goals and outcomes
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry professionals, and school administrators and school staff
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and company meetings/events as needed and perform other duties as assigned
