Digital Equity Resource Development Specialist (AmeriCorps VISTA)

Work to alleviate poverty by bridging the digital divide in rural areas with access to affordable service, devices and improved digital literacy

The Community Action Network envisions an end to poverty in Utah. Community Action Partnership of Utah (CAP Utah) and its member agencies work toward this vision every day by providing services to low-income families and individuals across the state. CAP Utah leads, strengthens, and supports the Community Action network by working with community stakeholders to advocate for vulnerable populations, build thriving communities, and end poverty.

Position goals/responsibilities:

  • Identify digital equity needs in areas of rural Utah – including affordability, access to broadband service and devices, and digital literacy.
  • Increase broadband access and decrease cost burden in rural areas of Utah.
  • increase access to devices to those without and teach basic literacy skills to use devices.
  • Create tools that measure the impact of digital equity efforts for agencies, stakeholders, and the public.

This position is a full-time, one-year commitment to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. While you will not receive a wage or salary, you will receive a bi-weekly living allowance and other benefits, including the Segal Education Award at the end of your service.

Eligibility:

  • 18 years or older
  • Successful completion of criminal background check
  • Must fit in one of the following:
    • US citizen or US National
    • Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status)
    • Person legally residing within a state (Example: refugee, asylee, temporary protected status, and DACA status.)
